Somaliland Government Complains of Lack of Public Compliance with Health Guidelines To Prevent Coronavirus Outbreak
Somaliland’s National Committee for Coronavirus Preparedness and Response today launched the central facility for Coronavirus data collection.
The committee led by the former vice president Abdirahman Sayli’i announced that the center will coordinate data collection for the national, regional and local levels.
The center will also better connect the committee and the public which the committee has raised concerns over their compliance with the committee’s guidelines.
The minister of Water Resources Mohamed Muse Diriye today said that the public is yet to comply with the directives of the committee regarding the prevention of coronavirus spread in the country. He said the schools were not closed so that children could play outside all time and engage in youth delinquency.
The information minister Saleebaan Yusuf Ali Koore also expressed dismay that the public is not heeding the health advice of the committee and the ministry of health. He said the problem also exists within the diaspora community where Coronavirus is killing Somalis in disproportionate numbers.
Khalil Ahmed the minister of religious affairs and endowments voiced similar sentiments wondering why the public are not following the guidelines.
.After these speeches all bemoaning the lack of public compliance with the health guidelines, the committee officially launched the National Facility for Coronavirus Data Collection. The facility used to house the ministry of water resources’ Institute for Water Science.
